Tickets are now on sale for Perth Art Gallery’s latest exhibition, GLASS, opening 4 April 2025. The exhibition will bring together never-before-seen treasures and exquisite examples from Perthshire and around the world for the very first time, celebrating the industry and craftspeople that made the region famous.

Whilst most of the larger factories have now been replaced with artisan glassmakers and craftspeople, Perthshire glass remains highly prized worldwide. With Perth now designated at the UK’s only UNESCO City of Craft and Folk Art, could this spark a renaissance of glass in the region?

From unique pieces by contemporary glass artists and more traditional manufacturers such as Monart and Perthshire Paperweights, to exquisitely-detailed 19th-century Blaschka sea creature models, Venetian Crystal or Cristallo, and Syrian glass, some of which are almost 2,000 years old, visitors will be taken on a dazzling journey linking Perthshire to traditions in Spain, Germany, Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, and beyond.

Ashleigh Hibbins, Head of Audiences and Learning for Culture Perth and Kinross, said, “We cannot wait to finally share GLASS at Perth Art Gallery this spring. As a region renowned for glassmaking and other traditional crafts, there is no better place to learn about the people, places, and artistry behind this beautiful yet versatile material. From medicines, to tableware, to contemporary art, glass is an essential yet sometimes overlooked part of our everyday lives. This exhibition is a visual feast which will surprise and delight visitors from near and far.”

Advance tickets for GLASS are available to book now through Perthshire Box Office, and discounted combi tickets with the upcoming Macbeth exhibition at Perth Museum are also available. Visitors can purchase at Perth Art Gallery on the day of their visit, but advance booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.

Members of the Culture Perth and Kinross Supporters Scheme and under 16s receive free entry. Discounts are available for Young Scot and Art Pass holders. A series of events and talks will also take place throughout the exhibition run for families and those keen to hear more about the history and design process around glass creation. Full details and booking information will be revealed in the coming weeks.
