The community library, the first of its kind in Perth and Kinross, will offer a diverse collection of books for all ages and interests.

We are delighted to be working with the Strathmore Community Hub to open this new community library,” said Helen Smout, Chief Executive at Culture Perth and Kinross. “The provision of a wide range of books to suit all ages in this wonderful space will be a resource for the local community.  We are grateful to the volunteers who will be working at the library, and we look forward to seeing it become a thriving community hub.”

We are excited to be opening this new library in partnership with Culture Perth and Kinross,” said Graeme Dawson, manager of the Strathmore Community Hub. “We love books, and we’re pleased to be able to offer some of our space to run this Community Library. We hope that this will be a well-used facility that the people of Coupar Angus will take to their hearts.”

Readers who wish to use the new library can register at the Hub for a new library card. Once registered, readers will be able to borrow up to three books from the community library. Culture Perth and Kinross Library members can continue to access a Click and Collect service and reserve books online via the library catalogue at the Hub or at home. A Culture Perth and Kinross mobile library van will also be available in Coupar Angus every third Tuesday.

Councillor Grant Laing, Leader of Perth & Kinross Council, added: “It is wonderful to see Culture Perth and Kinross and the local community come together in this way to ensure the future of the library provision for the residents of Coupar Angus.  I commend the volunteers who have come together to get the new library service up and running and I hope that it is embraced by the community.  This is a very exciting new approach to delivering this service and I truly hope to see it succeed.”

The new community library will be located at the Strathmore Hub, Trades Lane, Coupar Angus. The library will have an open day on Saturday, 30 September, from 11 am to 3 pm. After that, the library will be open Tuesdays from 10 am to 12 pm, Thursdays from 3 pm to 5 pm, and Saturdays from 10 am to 12 pm. Expanded hours are planned with more volunteer support.
