Culture Perth and Kinross launches public survey to shape the future of local library services

***Please note the library survey has now closed***

Culture Perth and Kinross has launched a public survey to inform how they will develop and deliver their library service in the future.

Working with Perth and Kinross Council, the cultural charity is encouraging library users and non-library users to help shape the future of their local library service by sharing their views and experiences of the service through the survey.

The survey opens today and will run for three weeks.

The last review of services took place in 2012/13. In the period since then, there have been changes in public behaviour and use of digital technology, and the Coronavirus pandemic has seen periods of closure and service restrictions. These have all impacted on library use and Culture Perth and Kinross is keen to understand what this may mean in the years ahead and how best it can meet the changing needs of communities.

Culture Perth and Kinross currently operate thirteen libraries and three mobile libraries across Perth & Kinross. In addition to providing free access to a broad range of books and information resources, libraries provide free Wi-Fi and computer access, book groups, a seed library, local history, activities to develop reading and literacy, information on health and wellbeing and deliver a programme of events and activities for all ages.

However, needs and interests change over time, and Culture Perth and Kinross hope to hear from users about how, where and when they would like to engage with services in the future and to hear from those who do not currently use the service about what would bring them through the doors.

The findings of the survey will help inform the review and recommendations for the future shape and scope of service delivery, and Culture Perth and Kinross hope to hear from as many people as possible to ensure a broad range of views, needs and interests are captured.

Library users, non-users and communities can complete the questionnaire online or pick up a printed version from any library.
