Culture Perth & Kinross -

First created at the University of Arkansas in 2014, What Were You Wearing, gained international attention in 2017 and has since been recreated thousands of times across six continents.

Now returning to Perth and Kinross, this RASAC P&K community pop-up exhibition seeks to raise awareness, encourage conversation and support survivors. The display offers a powerful response to one of society’s most persistent and damaging myths surrounding sexual violence: the question, “What were you wearing?” By presenting recreated outfits based on the experiences of survivors, What Were You Wearing? challenges the misconception that clothing is responsible for sexual assault and highlights the fundamental truth that responsibility lies solely with the perpetrator.

Exhibition Content Guidance: Due to the visual content, including replicas of outfits worn by survivors, some visitors may find this exhibition difficult or distressing. Information about support services, are available on the RASAC Perth & Kinross website

The recommended age for viewing this exhibition is 16+.

This exhibition is part of the 16 Days of Action to End Violence Against Women and Girls and is in partnership with the Perth & Kinross Violence Against Women Partnership, RASAC P&K, Perthshire Women’s Aid and Perth Museum.
