Please note the first floor of the AK Bell Library is open Tuesday to Thursday from 10am – 4pm, and 9.30am – 1pm on Saturday. Please be aware that the library’s opening hours are different from those at Perth Museum, so if you’re hoping to visit both displays, we would recommend to plan your visit with this in mind.
Since her death more than 400 years ago, Mary’s story has continued to intrigue and inspire people across the centuries, including two other legendary Scots; Robert Burns and Liz Lochhead. Explore the doomed Queen’s legacy beyond her last letter, with a rare display of a manuscript version of Burns’ poem Lament of Mary, Queen of Scots on the Approach of Spring and early archive material from Lochhead’s iconic play Mary Queen of Scots Got Her Head Chopped Off on the first floor of AK Bell Library, on loan from the National Library of Scotland to coincide with the Last Letter display at Perth Museum, and free for all to view.
