Curious Minds: “Mapping the Seabed”

Culture Perth & Kinross -

Prof. John Howe, Scottish Association for Marine Science, has spent more than 35 years working on ocean science – from the North Atlantic Circulation to sediments in the Antarctic. For the past 15 years, he has been a leading figure in mapping the UK’s shallow seabed using Autonomous Underwater Vehicles. There’s very little he doesn’t know about the hidden landscapes off our shores.

Our annual Curious Minds Lecture series, presented by Culture Perth & Kinross and the Perthshire Society of Natural Science is themed around “Contemporary Science in Scotland” and, over past seasons, speakers have covered a stimulating array of scientific topics from dinosaur fossils in Skye, through the human genome to black holes, gravitational waves and the science of consciousness.
