Did you know we’re the only UNESCO City of Craft and Folk Art in the entire UK? Explore what this means and how you can get involved here.
Being a UNESCO City of Craft means we’re committed to strengthening and further embedding craft and folk art into decision-making, sustainable development, communities and culture at all levels.
We’re doing this in three clear ways:
- Developing partnerships within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network
- Highlighting and creating opportunities for our local makers
- Strengthening networks and connections between creative communities across Perth and Kinross

What is
a UNESCO
Creative City?
Founded in 2004, The UNESCO Creative Cities Network was created to help the cities across the globe that have identified creativity as a strategic factor in their sustainable urban development.
