The Industrial Heritage of Perthshire and Fife : Illustrated talk by Dr Margaret Bennett

7th September 2017 Loch Leven Community Library

The great industries that made modern Scotland are rooted in traditional skills, ingenuity and natural inventiveness that helped shape the modern world. This illustrated talk is based on an oral history project in Perthshire and Fife, recording the working practices, conditions and experiences of retired workers.

With wit and humour, as well as pride in a job well done, retired engineers, mill-workers, miners, brick-makers, and hydro-workers recount the hey-day of apprentice-ships that trained experts in the field of industry and technology.

The talk is given by Dr Margaret Bennett, a Scottish writer, folklorist, ethnologist, broadcaster and singer. Her main interests lies in the field of traditional Scottish folk culture and cultural identity of the Scots, home and abroad

Part of a series of events celebrating History, Heritage and Archaeology across Perth and Kinross.
