Scotland’s First War of Independence: Ilustrated talk with Sarah Crome
Sarah Crome’s beautifully illustrated book “Scotland’s First War of Independence” tells the tale of a turbulent time in Scotland’s history from the tragic death of Alexander III in 1286, through the English invasions and the resistance of William Wallace of Braveheart fame, to the military successes of Robert the Bruce and the Treaty of Edinburgh in 1328.
Using maps, reconstruction illustrations, artifacts and documents of the era, Ms. Crome guides us through the events that ultimately led to Scotland’s independence.
Join Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and author Sarah Crome to celebrate the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology at Strathearn Library with an illustrated talk based on her book. Sarah will also be revealing some snippets of local history relating to Scotland’s First War of Independence as well.
This event is part of Culture Perth and Kinross’s celebration of the year of History, Heritage and Archaeology.
