Book Week Scotland: Natalie Fergie, Stitching a novel together with an old sewing machine.

30th November 2017 Scone Library

*Book Week Scotland Event*
The inspiration for The Sewing Machine was my Singer 99k, made in Clydebank in 1923. When I unwound the bobbins I discovered threads in many colours, and I realised that in my hands I was holding the lives of the previous owners; repairs to gardening trousers, school uniform, perhaps a dress for an interview.

Come along and see the sewing machine which inspired the book, and find out more about how it came to be written.
