Friends of Perth & Kinross Archive talk: Carolina, Lady Nairne: songs and history

19th October 2017 Soutar Theatre, AK Bell Library

Back by popular demand, and with some additional material, local historian Dr Nicola Cowmeadow and Syd House, MBE reprise their exploration of the life and songs of Carolina, Lady Nairne (1766- 1845). Drawing on Lady Nairne’s Jacobite lineage, her Perthshire connections and her lifelong interest in collecting music this talk will explore Carolina’s work and her renown as a major Scottish songstress. With a selection of songs, performed by Nicola and Syd, this presentation will reveal some lesser known songs and include some old favourites by Lady Nairne, the Flower of Strathearn.’
