Women of the World: Ajay Close in Conversation, Film Screening & Food

Celebrate Women of the World Festival in Perth with this special evening commemorating the women’s suffrage movement.

The event includes a talk from Scottish author Ajay Close, a light meal and a screening of the 2015 movie Suffragette starring Carey Mulligan and Meryl Streep.

Ajay Close, novelist and playwright, will talk about her highly acclaimed novel ‘A Petrol Scented Spring’. Set in the first half of the 20th century, the book from novelist and playwright Ajay Close deals with the fight for women’s rights, class mobility and suppressed sexuality based on real events at Perth Prison.  Following this there will be a light supper (BYOB) for time to reflect.

The final part of the evening is a showing of the moving 2015 film ‘Suffragette’, starring Meryl Streep and Carey Mulligan.
