Book Week Scotland: An Afternoon with Theresa Talbot

29th November 2017 Blairgowrie Library

As part of the year’s Book Week Scotland celebrations, we would like to invite you to spend an afternoon with one of Scotland’s best known radio voices, BBC Radio Scotland’s presenter Theresa Talbot, where she will discuss her writing.

Joyful, hilarious tales from her first book ‘This is What I Look Like’ where Theresa entertains us with her eventful life-story contrast with her recent gripping psychological drama ‘Penance’ based on the real life events which closed the Glasgow Magdalene Institution.

TV journalist and media darling Oonagh O Neil faces danger and chaos when an elderly priest dies on the altar of his Glasgow church. His death comes as she is about to expose the shocking truth behind the closure of a Magdalene Institution. Penance is a compelling must-read story that will have you gripped from the first page.

Scottish Book Trust encouraged the people of Scotland to share their stories of life and food for their Book Week Scotland 2017 writing campaign, Nourish. From the hundreds of stories received, they pulled out their favourites. Together with tales from well-known writers such as Mary Contini, Liz Niven and Dave Myers, the selected stories can be accessed below.
