Explore Your Archive Month & Archives 40th Anniversary

Perth and Kinross Archive celebrates its fortieth anniversary in November 2018. From humble beginnings in the basement of the Sandeman Library, the archive now occupies purpose-built facilities within AK Bell Library, with over 750 collections comprising over 2 million unique, individual items relating to every aspect of Perth & Kinross history.
We shall mark this significant anniversary by holding a month of events around the national initiative Explore Your Archive. Talks, tours, exhibitions, and film screenings will be held in the Archive and local libraries throughout November.

Film Screening – ‘War at Home’

We round up Explore Your Archive Month with a film screening focusing on the ‘War at Home’. Films from the National Library of Scotland’s Moving Image Archive provide a glimpse into life in Aberfeldy and a look at the Territorial Army in Scotland during World War II. The evening will also debut recordings of First World War soldier John Alex Veitch’s letters, held in the Perth & Kinross Archive, performed by local students. Join us for a unique chance to see this rare footage and these new recordings on the ‘big screen’.
